Summary of Qualifications:

I started my computer-related career in the early days of DOS, OS/2 and Windows networking. I have been very lucky in not just watching technologies change, but take part in the evolution of those technologies. I have participated in several of Microsoft's Beta programs, starting with Windows 98. This has allowed me to stay on track with current Microsoft technologies. Even when not invited, once the Beta program is open to the public, I try to participate, especially with Operating Systems, such as Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.

When I first became interested in this field, most LAN/WANs consisted of 10base2 and 9.6bps modems. While the software, hardware and networking options of today have changed tremendously, I have been able to use this fundamental experience towards today's newer software, hardware and networking.

My early experience includes working in a Mail-Order Computer company's Tech Support where I handled end-user hardware/software installation problems over the phone. This helped me gain the ability to troubleshoot and deduce solutions to problems without much information on the actual problem.

I have also worked for a small computer service company in SE Louisiana, PCX Computer Service, where I performed new Installations, Upgrades, and/or troubleshoot; PCs, Servers, Hardware, Software and Networks.

I have worked for two Community Banks in S.E. Louisiana, Dryades Savings Bank and Statewide Bank. At both institutions I was the sole member of the IT Department where I was responsible for all of the Bank's Servers, Desktops, LAN, WAN and Firewalls.

In November, 2005, wanting to focus the majority of my attention to Server Based Computing, I accepted the contractor position of Citrix Administrator for the Offshore Energy and Minerals Management, Minerals Management Service, U.S. Department of the Interior, in New Orleans.

I am a Microsoft Certified IT Professional, Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist and Citrix Certified Administrator. View my MCP Certifications

Citrix Administrator / Senior Windows Administrator
  • Install, Setup, Maintain, Administer, and Troubleshoot:
    • Five Citrix Farms, two Windows Based and two UNIX Based.
      • Two of the Farms are in the Build and Test Lab
    • Windows Server 2003 and 2008 servers running AD, IIS, DHCP, DNS and SQL.
    • Continuity of Operations (COOP) Scripting, Administering, Testing
    • Third Tier Support of Workstations and Laptops

The Minerals Management Services' Citrix presence consists of three Citrix Server Farms in Production and two in Build and Test lab.

The first of the Production Windows Citrix Farms utilizes Windows Server 2003 and Citrix Presentation Server v4. This farm is currently being migrated to Windows Server 2008 x64 and XenApp 5.

The other Production Windows Citrix Farm utilizes Windows Server 2003 x64 and Citrix XenApp v4.5 with seven Production servers.

The Build and Test Windows Citrix Farm utilizes Windows Server 2003 and Citrix Presentation Server v4 with five servers.

The UNIX Citrix Farm utilizes SunOS 8 and 9 with five Production servers and one server in the Build and Test lab.

I maintain and recommend how Group Policies are created and applied to the Citrix Farms, Windows Servers and Workstations. I have also participated with implementing Least User Access (LUA) at the Workstation level. I often participate in confirming systems are compliant with CIS/NIST recommendations (STIGs).

OEMM has a Hot Site for Continuity of Operations (COOP) in Denver, which consists of four Citrix Servers and a SQL Server for the Data Store as well as other resource servers including mms.gov websites. As a primary member of the Hurricane Response Team, I am responsible for maintaining the COOP Citrix Servers, Applications and Active Directory user configurations.

I have led a team of three administrators on all Citrix related implementation projects, which have involved upgrading either the Operating System, Citrix or end user software packages hosted on the Server Farms.

My first project was to upgrade the OEMM Citrix Server Farm from Windows 2000 and Citrix MetaFrame XP to Windows Server 2003 and Presentation Server 4 and also to make Continuity of Operations a more robust solution. This project lasted around nine months as there was no knowledge transfer and little documentation of how and why the Citrix Farm was being utilized.

I have also participated in a Active Directory Forest migration. I was a team member for the Gulf of Mexico Region (GOMR). .
