I recently stood up a few Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.9 VMs for use with XenDesktop 7.x. The VDA setup went fine, the VM registered fine, but the connection would fail. A quick look in the messages log showed that the CDM Redirector could not start.
Asking the Linux Admins for help did not turn up any answers, so I asked my trusty old school Solaris UNIX wizard. He did some strace'ing on the service and as it turns out, the Gold Image this VM was created from had nodev and nosuid set on the /opt directory. I never could get a straight answer as to why this was set or what guide recommended it, but removing the requirement from /etc/fstab fixed the issue.
